A Study on the Sex Education for Primary School Girls Their Attitude toward the -Menarche

Abstract
|
|
|
In an attempt to assist in fulfilling the sex education for the primary school girls
effectively, a study on their attitude toward menarche was carried out by surveying
751 primary school girls in the fifth-and sixth-grade, Kwangju. The results were as follows
1. The most of girls (84.3%) were observed in ignorance of the fact of menarche, the remainders (15.7%) had some knowledge about it from teacher (29.6%), mother (22.2%), elder sister(21.1%) or friend(20.3% ).
2. Most girls, whether experienced or not, revealed the feeling such as shame, fear or depression toward menarche,
3. After receiving sex "information", the most of girls (85.9% of all) understood the contents about it and also showed positive attitude toward menarche; free from anxiety (44.0/), proud (10.0%) and anticipated (15.5%).
4. The vast majority of school girls took a great interest in physiology of female.
